User Guide

Everything you need to know about using MixMatrix for harmonic mixing.

Importing Your Library

From Serato DJ Pro

MixMatrix reads directly from your Serato crates - no export needed.

1. Analyze your tracks first: In Serato, select tracks and right-click → Analyze Files
2. Import: In MixMatrix, click the Serato import card
3. Select a crate: Choose which crate to import

From Rekordbox

Rekordbox 5 and earlier: MixMatrix reads directly from your database - just select a playlist.

Rekordbox 6+: The database is encrypted. Use the XML export workflow:

1. In Rekordbox: File → Export Collection in xml format
2. Save to Desktop as rekordbox.xml
3. MixMatrix will find it automatically on import

From CSV/Other Sources

For Spotify exports, SoundCloud, or any CSV:

1. Click "Generic CSV Import"
2. MixMatrix auto-detects title, artist, BPM, and key columns

Understanding the Interface

MixMatrix has three main tabs:

Tab	Purpose
TRACK LIBRARY	View and manage all imported tracks
ALL PAIRINGS	See compatibility scores between tracks
PLAYLIST BUILDER	Build and export your DJ sets

Key Compatibility Scoring

MixMatrix uses the Camelot Wheel system to calculate harmonic compatibility:

Score	Meaning	Example
Perfect	Same key	8A → 8A
Top	Adjacent key (±1)	8A → 7A or 9A
Excellent	Energy boost (A↔B)	8A → 8B
Good	Diagonal move	8A → 7B or 9B

BPM Matching

• Tracks within ±6 BPM are compatible
• Half-time (÷2) and double-time (×2) matches supported
• Example: 140 BPM pairs with 70 BPM (half) or 280 BPM (double)

Track Library Tab

Sorting & Filtering

• Click any column header to sort
• Use the search bar to filter by artist, title, or key
• Click the stems icon in header to sort tracks with stems to top

Track Status Icons

Icon	Status
Green checkmark	Reviewed/Approved
Red X	Rejected
No icon	Not reviewed

All Pairings Tab

This tab shows every possible track combination with compatibility scores.

Column	Description
Track A	First track in the pair
Track B	Potential mix target
Score	Harmonic compatibility rating
BPM Match	Shows if half/double-time applies

Playlist Builder

Building Your Set

1. Add tracks: Drag from Library or Pairings tab
2. Reorder: Drag tracks up/down
3. Remove: Click the X on any track
4. Auto-sort: Optimizes order by key compatibility

Preview Controls

• Click any track to load in preview player
• Use waveform to scrub through track
• Play/Pause with transport controls

Exporting Your Work

Click Export to open the Export Dashboard:
